The Android 4.3 Jelly Bean-based smartphone will arrive in January

Today, South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy Grand 2 smartphone for the market in India, confirming plans to make it available for purchase in January.

Samsung will launch the phone in three different color versions, namely Black, Pink, and White. Unfortunately, no specific price tag has been provided as of now, but it will be unveiled closer to the release date.

However, Samsung did say that users should expect for the new device to be priced somewhere between Rs. 22,900 ($370/€270) and Rs. 24,900 ($402/€294) when released.

The new mobile phone features a 5.25-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a 720p HD resolution. It also sports a 16:9 ratio and a 279PPI pixel density.

Galaxy Grand 2 is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm processor and features 1.5GB of RAM for increased performance capabilities.

Moreover, the handset packs 8GB of internal memory, along with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 64GB of additional storage space.

On the back, the new device will sport an 8-megapixel camera with auto-focus, LED flash, Geo-tagging, and full HD video recording capabilities. Furthermore, it sports a 1.9MP front camera for making video calls.

Connectivity-wise, it offers HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n with Wi-Fi hotspot, DLNA, and Bluetooth 4.0, along with a built-in GPS receiver.

Samsung has also unveiled the smartphone with dual-SIM capabilities with dual-standby, as well as with a 2600 mAh battery inside, and with the usual set of sensors.

Galaxy Grand 2 runs under Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with Samsung’s own TouchWiz UI loaded on top. It will provide users with features such as Group Play, Multi Window, Story Album, S Translator, S Travel, Samsung Hub, and Samsung Link, among others, as fonearena notes.

On top of that, the handset will provide users with three months of free access to Samsung Club, the company’s own entertainment portal, Samsung has announced.
