The Galaxy Golden is not a completely new smartphone, but word is Samsung plans to release it in India in the coming weeks.

Currently, the smartphone is only available in South Korea, where it was introduced back in August. However, AndroidOS reports that Samsung India might release the Galaxy Golden soon, as the company has already imported 1650 units.

Although there’s no word on price tag and exact release date, mobile retailer Mahesh Telecom claims that Samsung Galaxy Golden will be available for purchase for no less than Rs 49,990 outright, which is about $815 or €590.

The reason behind the high pricing of the Galaxy Golden might be the fact that it comes with two displays. On the negative side, it doesn’t seem to be equipped with dual-SIM support, which is a mandatory feature in India. This, along with the phone’s high price might drag down sales.

Those still interested in buying the Galaxy Golden should know Samsung’s clamshell will ship with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box.

There’s no info on any major software upgrade that might come to Galaxy Golden in the future, so customers should assume they will be stuck with the 4.2 version.

Samsung Galaxy Golden sports two 3.7-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen displays that support WVGA (480 x 800 pixels) resolution.

On the inside, the smartphone comes equipped with a dual-core processor clocked at 1.7 GHz, 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. The clamshell also sports an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, as well as a secondary 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.

Other highlights of the phone include: numeric keypad, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G HSPA, FM Radio, 3.5mm audio jack, GPS with A-GPS support and 1820 mAh Li-Ion battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer.
