It looks like Samsung's Galaxy Gio smartphone will be launched by Virgin Mobile as well, after major carrier Bell confirmed that it would release the device on August 4.

As we reported earlier, Samsung Galaxy Gio is Bell exclusive, but it looks like Virgin Mobile will also retail the smartphone.

Although there is no information regarding the phone's exact release date and price tag, it is likely that both carriers will offer the Galaxy Gio at similar prices.

Furthermore, as Virgin Mobile is owned by Bell, it is expected that the Galaxy Gio will be launched on the same day, August 4.

There's no doubt about it, Samsung Galaxy Gio will be retailed as a mid-entry handset, which means that it will be one of the affordable Android smartphones offered by Virgin Mobile.

The smartphone runs Google's Android 2.2 (Froyo) platform, but users can flash any of the available unofficial ROMs that allows them to upgrade to Gingerbread.

Equipped with a Qualcomm QCT MSM7227-1 Turbo processor clocked at 800 MHz, Samsung Galaxy Gio is not a fast smartphone, instead it offers high value for money due to Google's Android operating system.

It only packs 158 MB of users’ memory, but the storage can be easily expanded up to 32GB thanks to the included microSD card slot.

In this regard, it is worth mentioning that the phone will be delivered with a 2GB memory card in the sales package.

The phone also sports an average 3-megapixel camera with autofocus, geo-tagging, smile detection and video recording capabilities (QVGA@15fps).

The Galaxy Gio has a 3.2-inch multi-touch capacitive display with 16 million colors support and 320 x 480 pixels resolution, as well as accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate and proximity sensor for auto turn-off.

The handset does not feature a secondary front-facing camera for video calls, instead it offers HSDPA (7.2 Mbps) and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, including Wi-Fi hotspot capability.
