Samsung may have released the Galaxy Gear Android smartwatch at the start of the month, but that doesn't mean it has already started selling it. Fortunately, it won't be long now, according to word on the web.

A recent rumor says that shipments will begin on October 4 in Canada. That's two weeks from now, and not as long a wait as I'd feared earlier this month.

Then again, after the start of AT&T pre-orders and the arrival of the watch in India, one might argue that this latest development was expected.

Anyway, for those that want a brief rundown of the watch's capabilities, it is a $299.99 / €299.99 with a1.63-inch Super AMOLED display (320 x 320 pixels), 4GB storage, 512 MB RAM, a 1.9 MP camera (720p video), dual microphones (noise cancellation) and a speaker.

The strap is made of plastic and can’t be removed because some of the hardware is in it (the microphones, for example). So make sure you don't damage it, because this isn't something you can just change the belt on.
