14 DAY TRIAL // Samsung made a lot of noise about the Galaxy Gear Smartwatch back in September 2013, at IFA, but the gadget ultimately failed to impress most people. The Galaxy Gear 2 is approaching now though.
The Galaxy Gear didn't fail because the product type proved unpopular (it didn't), but because the implementation left a lot to be desired.
Basically, it has a poor battery life, a not-very-glamorous user interface, among other things, not the least of which is poor compatibility with smartphones (barely two or three Samsung phones work with it).
According to recent rumors (Tech Radar), the Galaxy Gear 2 will have a curved OLED screen and a steel frame.
Sadly, we don't know whether it will be compatible with more products or if the performance will be all that better.
