One of the smartphones that Android enthusiasts out there should be looking for this year is said to be the Samsung Galaxy F, a new, premium device from the South Korean mobile phone maker, which can be admired in the image above.

The newly leaked press render with the phone, available courtesy of @evleaks, shows it in a Gold color option but does not reveal details on when we might see it arriving on the market.

Considering the fact that Samsung has already released Gold variants of other smartphones in its lineup, it does not come as a surprise that the premium device will suffer a similar fate, that’s for sure.

For those out of the loop, we should note that Galaxy F has been long rumored to arrive on the market as a higher spec’d version of the Galaxy S5.

Initially, the device was said to be launched as Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime, but recent reports claim that Samsung is actually considering its release as the first in an entirely new series of premium devices.

The new Samsung Galaxy F is said to sport a 5.3-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a Quad HD resolution.

Moreover, the smartphone is said to pack a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor inside, which should be paired with 3GB of RAM, thus capable of offering increased performance capabilities when compared to the current flagship handset.

At the same time, the mobile phone should sport a 16-megapixel Sony camera on the back, featuring Optical Image Stabilization and capable of recording videos in 4K resolution.

The handset is also said to come with a premium, metallic body, something that the newly leaked image appears to fully confirm.

Unfortunately, Samsung hasn’t provided confirmation on the device as of now, though the company did say several months ago that it was considering the launch of premium smartphones.

Rumor has it that Galaxy F would go official as soon as the next month, though other reports claim that it might arrive only in September, at the IFA 2014 show in Berlin, where Samsung is also expected to announce the Galaxy Note 4 smartphone.

When released, Galaxy F will face competition from LG’s already available G3 smartphone, which also sports a Quad HD touchscreen, though it includes only a Snapdragon 801 processor.

However, LG has been rumored lately to bring to the market a Snapdragon 805-based variant of LG G3 too, one that would be able to better compete against Galaxy F. Hopefully, more on this will emerge soon, so keep an eye on this space for updates.
