The photo and video capture device can finally be bought with no data plan

The Galaxy Camera tablet has been making the news almost constantly since it debuted, seeing how it is a merger, of sorts, between a smartphone and a photo camera.

The reason it is being talked about again is the appearance of a Wi-Fi-only version in the United States.

Previously, only 3G/4G-capable versions were being sold, and with a data plan too, through AT&T and Verizon.

The new, Wi-Fi-only model can be bought without a contract, for $449.99 / 449.99 Euro.

The use of the Android operating system continues to be the main selling point of the device, since it makes it stand apart from all other photo and video takers.

Strangely, though, the price is no different from what it used to take to get the item from either of the aforementioned carriers. One would think the lack of a data plan would allow for a lower price, but instead, AT&T and Verizon have kicked up their own costs to $549.99 / 549.99 Euro.
