The smartphone-like photo-capturing device gets better

Samsung's Galaxy Camera may be a photo and video device, but it is, in great part, a smartphone as well, one that runs the Android operating system.

That means that, like smartphones, the camera is subject to over-the-air software updates (OTA).

The latest such update to the device is installing the Android 4.1.2 OS (firmware BLL7).

Bug fixes, performance optimizations and a revamped Gallery app are part of the package.

For those who've forgotten, the Galaxy Camera was launched during IFA 2012, in August. From the front, it looks like a normal camera, more or less, but from the back it has the appearance of a smartphone.

Most controllers are replaced by the touchscreen. Basically, this is a cameraphone that only lacks the ability to make calls.

According to Phandroid, some users have already received the update.
