The sequel to the not so popular Samsung Galaxy Beam was spotted more than a month ago in China at TENAA, featuring China Mobile’s branding on the battery cover.

Although that was a clear indication that Samsung planned to bring the Galaxy Beam 2 in China sometime in the future, we did not have any details regarding the smartphone’s release date or full specs.

Today, SammyHub reports that the rumored Galaxy Beam 2 has just been listed on the official Samsung China website. Unfortunately, the smartphone does not feature a price tag attached to it and for the time being, it’s unclear when exactly it will go on sale.

However, the press pictures with the phone confirm that the Galaxy Beam 2 will be available for purchase through China Mobile carrier. We expect Samsung to bring the smartphone to other countries as well, but we suspect that it will initially be released in the Mainland only.

The only thing we know for certain is the fact that Samsung Galaxy Beam 2, while a major improvement over the previous model, it’s still a mediocre Android smartphone.

For example, the Galaxy Beam 2 has been confirmed to ship with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, which is rather old even for a mid-range device.

Obviously, the selling point of the handset is the mini-projector that’s been included on the top side of the Galaxy Beam 2. Apart from that, the rest of its features are specific to mid-range handsets.

Samsung Galaxy Beam 2 comes equipped with a 1.2GHz quad-core processor and sports a decent 4.66-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen display that supports WVGA (480 x 800 pixels) resolution.

The spec list also mentions that the smartphone offers Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS connectivity options, along with a high-capacity 2600 mAh battery.

According to Samsung, the Galaxy Beam 2 is made of metallic alloy, “Samsung G3858 exterior design is full of the sense of metallic taste, highlighting the extraordinary craftsmanship quality to make your every appearance glamorous.”

It is also worth mentioning that the Galaxy Beam 2 features a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back with LED flash and video recording, as well as a secondary camera for video call.

There’s no word on the amount of RAM and storage, but we know that Samsung Galaxy Beam 2 includes microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 64GB). Stay tuned for more details on the sequel to Galaxy Beam’s release date and price tag.
