US-based carrier T-Mobile has just put an end to the flow of rumors claiming the unannounced Samsung Galaxy Avant will be part of the network operator’s portfolio at some point.

The Magenta carrier has just announced the immediate availability of the Samsung Galaxy Avant starting today. Customers can pick this one up for only $216 (€160) outright at T-Mobile stores nationwide and online.

It is also worth mentioning that the Galaxy Avant is also available for $0 down and 24 monthly payments of $9 (€6.73), with all the Un-carrier benefits with a Simple Choice plan including: zero annual service contracts, zero overages, zero hidden device costs, global roaming, and Music Freedom.

According to the carrier, “the Samsung Galaxy Avant joins a robust Samsung product lineup at T-Mobile including devices like the Samsung Galaxy S5, the limited edition Samsung Galaxy S5 Gold, Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014-Edition, and Samsung Galaxy Tab® 4 8.0.”

Specs-wise, Samsung Galaxy Avant is a mid-range Android smartphone that doesn’t stand out from other devices in the same price range with one exception. The handset is said to come preloaded with a unique application called Device Unlock, which allows owners to remotely unlock the Galaxy Avant without having to ask for a T-Mobile rep’s help.

Other than that, the Galaxy Avant is far from being impressive, but still has some decent specs under the hood that should make it a viable alternative to those looking for an inexpensive smartphone.

Moreover, the smartphone ships with Android 4.4 KitKat operating system out of the box, so you won’t need to wait for this particular update.

When it comes to hardware, Samsung Galaxy Avant has been confirmed to pack a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and 1.5GB of RAM.

The handset sports a 4.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports qHD (540 x 960 pixels) resolution. It also comes with 4G LTE support for blazing fast download data speeds.

Samsung Galaxy Avant is equipped with no less than 16GB built-in memory, but also packs microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 64GB).

On the back, the smartphone features a 5-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, while on the front there’s a secondary VGA camera for video calls.

Other highlights of the Galaxy Avant include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC (Near Field Communication), 3.5mm audio jack, FM Radio and GPS with A-GPS support. The phone’s battery has been rated for up to 15 days of standby time or up to 18 hours of talk time.
