South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics has in store yet another highly appealing device that would run under Google's Android operating system, the Samsung Galaxy Apollo. No official announcement on the new handset was made, yet the phone can already be seen on its UK website, next to the Samsung Wave and Galaxy S.

It's a common fact that the Samsung Galaxy S is set to become the company's Android flagship device, and it seems the Galaxy Apollo should follow it closely. It might not include all of the high-end features that Galaxy S does, but it is expected to pack enough of them to impress almost any user out there.

According to a recent article on Engadget, the Samsung Galaxy Apollo might be none other than the Samsung M100S, an Android-based device released not too long ago in South Korea. Boasting a 3.7-inch touchscreen display, a 5-megapixel photo snapper, Wi-Fi 802.11n connectivity and Google's Android 2.1 operating system, the phone is one of the nicest Samsung has outed on the market so far.

Since the Galaxy Apollo resembles a lot the Korea-bound Samsung M100S, it wouldn't come as a surprise if the two proved to be related. Unfortunately, Samsung does not offer too many details on the specifications of Galaxy Apollo, and it might turn to be a different device. No specific info on when the handset is set for release emerged either, apart from the coming soon tag it sports on the mobile phone maker's website.

It seems that Samsung, along with other leading handset vendors out there, is starting to bet a lot on the Android operating system. Although it released its own mobile platform, bada, and the first device to run under it, the Samsung Wave, the company still delivers to the market high-end phones powered by Android. One certain thing is that users are those to benefit the most from this, especially those who find Google's platform appealing.
