Samsung Galaxy Alpha owners have been waiting for their promised Android 5.0 Lollipop update for quite a while now, and they will surely have to wait a bit longer because the South Korean company has no intention of making it available anytime soon.

There were rumors that Galaxy Alpha might receive the highly anticipated Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade sometime in Q2 2015, but no specific date was given.

Today, more info on the upcoming Lollipop update for Samsung Galaxy Alpha has just popped up online, and from what we can tell, the news isn't that great for owners of this particular smartphone.

As YouMobile.org points out, Samsung Denmark has just confirmed on its official website that Galaxy Alpha is expected to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade.

Unfortunately, no exact release date or timeframe has been announced, so we're left with the hope that the initial statement pointing to a Q2 2015 launch might be accurate.

Samsung France says Lollipop release is imminent

In this regard, Samsung France has also confirmed that the rollout of the Lollipop update for Galaxy Alpha is imminent and should start this month.

But Galaxy Alpha won't be the only Samsung smartphone to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update in the coming months.

Samsung has recently confirmed that the Galaxy Note II and Galaxy S5 mini will be getting the update as well. However, the time frame for these two smartphones is “later in 2015.”

This could mean anything, but since Samsung is now preoccupied with bringing Galaxy Alpha the latest version of Android, Galaxy Note II and Galaxy S5 mini owners might have to wait a few more weeks to get the upgrade.

We will keep an eye out for any additional details on the matter and will update with new info when it becomes available, so stay tuned for more on this one.
