Soon, South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics should make official its first Android-based smartphone that will sport a metallic body, and some more info on it has emerged online today.

The mobile phone will supposedly land on the market under the name of Samsung Galaxy Alpha, after being rumored for a long time to be the premium version of Galaxy S5 and to be called Galaxy F.

As it turns out, the handset will hit shelves with a body that will be much smaller than that of Galaxy S5, and it will also sport only a 720p touchscreen display.

Previous reports on the Samsung Galaxy Alpha did suggest that the smartphone would arrive on the market with a 4.8-inch touchscreen capable of delivering a 720p resolution, and confirmation on the matter has reportedly emerged today.

According to SamMobile, the info on the matter comes from Samsung’s developer console, and falls in line with what a User Agent Profile spotted on the company’s website revealed before.

Basically, this means that the new device will arrive on shelves with the same display as the Samsung Galaxy S III did a couple of years ago.

Moreover, it confirms that Samsung Galaxy Alpha will not be released as a high-end flagship smartphone, though it will indeed land on the market with a metallic body.

Rumor has it that Samsung has built the mobile phone with an aluminum frame wrapped around it, as well as with a faux leather material on the back.

The specs list of Samsung Galaxy Alpha also includes 32GB of internal memory, along with a nano-SIM card slot, and a fingerprint scanner. Apparently, the phone will not provide users with the possibility to expand the available internal memory, which could prove a deal breaker for many.

However, the device is said to include LTE-Advanced connectivity capabilities, which will be paired with the entire set of other connectivity options.

Rumor has it that Samsung Galaxy Alpha will be launched sometime in August, before the official unveiling of the Galaxy Note 4.

Although no specific info on the pricing of the new phone has emerged as of now, we suspect that it will be released as a mid-range device, at least based on the hardware specifications that have leaked for it until now.

The Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system version might also be loaded on top of the new device, alongside various software enhancements coming from Samsung itself. Hopefully, some official details on the smartphone will emerge soon, so stay tuned.
