The smartphone will arrive at Bell and Virgin Mobile on September 26

On Monday, South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics officially confirmed the upcoming availability of the Samsung Galaxy Alpha smartphone on the market in Canada.

The handset will arrive on shelves at two wireless carriers in the country, namely Bell Mobility and Virgin Mobile. Users will be able to purchase the phone as soon as September 26, but they can already order it today via Bell’s online portal, it seems.

According to Samsung, the mobile phone was designed to make a bold statement, mainly courtesy of its slim lightweight design, which is paired with a compact form factor and a brushed aluminum frame.

The company explains that this smartphone was built from leading-edge lightweight materials, and that it should easily prove a great option for all style-conscious consumers out there. The phone is less than 7mm thick, and will provide all users with reliable one-hand grip and control.

As a refresher, the mobile phone was made official with a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display capable of delivering an HD (1280 x 720) resolution.

Moreover, it is powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core processor, paired with 2GB of RAM, which ensures that it is also capable of delivering appealing performance capabilities at all times.

The handset was made official with 32GB of internal memory, but it does not include a microSD memory card slot, which means that users will not be able to expand the available storage space.

Samsung has announced the new mobile phone with all of the usual connectivity capabilities inside, such as LTE Cat.4, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, and built-in GPS receiver.

On the back, Samsung Galaxy Alpha features a 12-megapixel camera with support for 4K video recording, paired with a 2.1MP front camera for making video calls while on the go.

At the same time, the smartphone comes with camera features such as Beauty Face, Dual Camera, HDR (High Dynamic Range), Panorama, Selective Focus, Shot & More, and Virtual Tour.

The handset is powered by an 1860mAh battery, measures 132.4 x 65.5 x 6.7mm, and weighs 115 grams. It runs under the Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system.

Samsung’s Ultra Power Saving Mode is also available on this smartphone, so that users can enjoy longer operations through by switching the display to black and white and closing all apps, except for calling and messaging.

On top of that, the phone comes with upgraded and personalized security technology, including a finger scanner for unlocking it, for logging in on various websites, and for authenticating online purchases.

The handset will become available for purchase in Charcoal Black, Dazzling White, and Frosted Gold starting September 26, when Bell Mobility and Virgin Mobile will add it to their offerings. It will arrive at other wireless carriers as well in the coming months.

At the moment, the smartphone is listed at Bell Canada with a price tag of $699.95 (€543) attached to it, contract free. Those who will buy it on contract will have to pay only $149.95 (€116) for it.
