Samsung Galaxy Alpha, long rumored to arrive on shelves as the first handset from the South Korean mobile phone maker to sport a metallic design, might go official as soon as August 4, the latest reports on the matter suggest.

Previously, the device was rumored to be formally introduced sometime in mid-August, a few weeks before the revealing of Galaxy Note 4, but it seems that Samsung might actually announce it as soon as the next week.

According to SamMobile, it would make more sense for Samsung to reveal Galaxy Alpha in early August, as it will have more time to prepare the launch of said new member of the Galaxy Note family.

One thing that you should keep in mind, however, is the fact that Galaxy Alpha is not a high-end smartphone, but that it is aimed at landing on shelves more like a mid-range product.

Rumor has it that it would be released with a 4.8-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a 720p resolution, and that it will also feature 32GB of internal memory, with no microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes.

Basically, it will be released as a downgraded flavor of Samsung Galaxy S5, most likely highly similar to the Galaxy S5 mini.
