There have been lots of rumors surrounding the unannounced Galaxy Alpha, Samsung’s next premium smartphone that’s supposed to offer those disappointed by the company’s Galaxy S5 handset an alternative.

Although the South Korean company has yet to officially introduce the smartphone, the first live pictures showing the Galaxy Alpha or a prototype have already leaked online.

However, details on the high-end smartphone’s specs and price tag have been scarce, but that seems to have changed thanks to Brazilian blog Tecmunndo.

The cited source has just published a press photo of the smartphone that contains most of the specs of the so-called Samsung Galaxy Alpha. Speaking of which, those in doubt that Samsung may launch a smartphone under the Galaxy Alpha name should reconsider their opinions as the flyer leaked does mention this name.

The bad news is that we can’t say for sure whether or not the leaked document is 100% legit, which is why we recommend our readers to take it with a grain of salt until Samsung officially unveils the smartphone.

All in all, here is what we know so far about Samsung Galaxy Alpha. First of all, the smartphone will be equipped with an octa-core Exynos chipset that accommodates a 1.8GHz quad-core processor and a 1.3GHz quad-core CPU.

Even though the smartphone will pack either 32GB of 64GB of storage, the smartphone lacks microSD card slot for memory expansion, so this is all you get by default.

On the back, the smartphone is said to feature a 12-megapixel photo snapper with LED flash, autofocus and full HD (1080p) video recording, while in the front there will be a secondary 2.1-megapixel camera for video calls and selfies.

Samsung Galaxy Alpha sports a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution. There’s also a 1860 mAh battery inside, along with a heart rate monitor and 2GB of RAM.

Last but not least, the Galaxy Alpha is supposed to ship with Android 4.4 KitKat operating system out of the box, but there's no surprise here.

According to the Brazilian website, the Galaxy Alpha should be officially announced in the second part of August or the first part of September. Still, the smartphone won’t go on sale until late September or early October.

Samsung Galaxy Alpha should cost around $1050 (€785) outright and judging by its specs sheet, it might not be more powerful than the Galaxy S5 and definitely won’t be superior to the Galaxy Note 4 that should go official next month at IFA 2014.

Speaking of which, there’s a high chance that the Samsung Galaxy Alpha will be announced during the IFA 2014 trade fair, which is set to kick off on early September. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
