The phone gets sized up against the Galaxy S5 flagship

Yesterday, we got the chance to have a look at the rumored Samsung Galaxy Alpha premium handset, courtesy of a series of leaked live photos with it, and some more such images are now available for your viewing pleasure.

The handset has been long said to land on shelves with a metallic body, and the newly leaked photos with it confirm that.

Previously said to hit the market as Galaxy S5 Prime or Galaxy F, the mobile phone might be launched as Galaxy Alpha in the end, with a more compact body when compared to the current flagship device.

The aforementioned leaked images, available courtesy of SamMobile, confirm both the metallic body of the device, with aluminum on the side, as well as the smaller body, since the phone is sized up against the Galaxy S5.

Rumor has it that Galaxy Alpha will hit shelves with a 4.7-inch touchscreen display, though it will still be a high-end device, as everyone is expecting it to be.

Apparently, the mobile phone will sport 32GB of internal memory, supposedly without offering users the possibility to add more storage space to it via a microSD memory card slot.

However, it will include a fingerprint scanner, nano-SIM card slot, and LTE-Advanced connectivity capabilities (though it appears that only one variant will include the feature, which means that an international version will come without it).

Basically, the Galaxy Alpha will hit the market as a slightly better variant of Galaxy S5 mini, which suggests that it could be marketed as a lower-spec’s flavor of the Galaxy S5 flagship.

For the time being, however, no official confirmation on the smartphone has been provided, and its full set of hardware capabilities and features remains largely unknown.

According to SamMobile, Galaxy Alpha could see only a limited release, though chances are that all will depend on the manner in which initial sales go. Samsung will certainly push the phone to more markets if it turn out to be successful.

Should this phone prove real, its release would also show that Samsung is finally ready to adopt a metallic design for its smartphones, a move away from the plastic bodies that it has been using for so long now.

However, as mentioned above, Galaxy Alpha is still only a rumor for the time being, and it remains to be seen how long it would take before Samsung decides to make it official (some suggest that it could debut at IFA 2014 in Berlin in early September).
