Next week, South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics is expected to make official the first handset in the Galaxy lineup that will sport a metallic design, and the device has already emerged at online retailers, it seems.

The handset, supposedly set to arrive on the market under the name of Samsung Galaxy Alpha, is said to have been slated for an August 13 launch, yet no official confirmation on the matter has been provided as of now.

However, online retailer Mobilefun has decided to add it to its website, though it has not provided specific details on when users might be able to purchase the device.

The phone’s listing page is now gone, but the fact that it was there and that the device was also listed as up for pre-order suggests that we’re getting closer to an official release.

What the retailer has revealed is a possible price tag for the Galaxy Alpha, namely £549 ($926/€690), if purchased without a contract, as theinquirer reports.

The cost of this device might seem a bit too high, considering the hardware specifications it will arrive with, though we assume that its final price will be a bit lower.

For those out of the loop, we should note that Galaxy Alpha has been long rumored to land on shelves with a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display capable of delivering a 1280 x 720 pixels resolution.

Moreover, the handset is expected to be released with an Exynos or a Snapdragon processor inside, as well as with 2GB of RAM.

Additionally, the yet unannounced mobile phone should include 32GB of internal memory, though it will not feature a microSD memory card slot for storage expansion purposes.

According to the latest reports on the matter, Samsung will release the Galaxy Alpha with a 12-megapixel camera on the back, which will certainly be able to record videos in full HD resolution.

The handset is also said to include a 2.1MP camera on the front, which should prove a great option when it comes to snapping selfies or making video calls.

At the same time, the new device should arrive on shelves with 4G LTE connectivity, as well as with the usual 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and a built-in GPS receiver. Samsung will also pack it with the entire set of usual sensors.

Samsung Galaxy Alpha should run under the Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system right out of the box, though it will also include a variety of exclusive applications and software enhancements coming from the South Korean vendor itself.
