Samsung Galaxy Alpha series made its debut a few months ago to try and tackle Apple’s better looking iPhone and to fill in a hole in the company’s portfolio that’s been there for a long time.

The Galaxy Alpha are among the few premium smartphones Samsung ever launched on the market and fans complaining the South Korean handset maker should try and improve design of its flagship handsets have been given an alternative.

Although Samsung has already launched a smartphone in the Alpha series, there are no less than three other smartphones on the way: Galaxy A3, A5 and A7.

Their numbering suggests that the A3 will be the cheapest and the less featured of the three, while the Galaxy A7 should be the most expensive and possibly more powerful than the other two.

Anyway, the Galaxy Alpha A3 is expected to be the first of the three to make a debut on the market and a piece of evidence comes directly from FCC (Federal Communications Commission) where the smartphone has recently been spotted by the folks at Blog of Mobile.

This is also an indication of the fact that the long-rumored smartphone will finally be introduced on the market, though we’re still in the dark regarding the exact release date.

However, judging by the documents filed at FCC, Samsung Galaxy Alpha A3, or whatever name the handset maker will use, is supposed to feature dual-SIM support but no 4G LTE support, which is kind of surprising.

This leads us to believe that this particular version of the Galaxy Alpha A3 has been especially designed for emerging markets like India where 4G LTE is not a mandatory feature for consumers.

There will be more than one versions of the Galaxy Alpha A3

Dual-SIM, microSD card slot and Radio FM are more likely to appeal to customers in India, and Samsung is aware of that and decided to go with a slightly different Galaxy Alpha A3 model in this region.

We can safely assume that Samsung will go with a slightly different version of the Galaxy Alpha A3 in well-developed markets, so 4G LTE will most likely be included.

Here is a quick rundown of the Galaxy Alpha A3 specs, as leaked several weeks ago. First of all, the smartphone will sport a 4.52-inch qHD (540 x 960 pixels) display, a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory.

The Galaxy Alpha A3 is also expected to pack an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 5-megapixel camera in the front and Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system. We will keep an eye out for any additional details on the smartphone’s launch so stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
