Although Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 has already been confirmed by various carriers in the UK, none has revealed the exact release date of the smartphone.

However, UK-based retailer KingOfGadgets has just listed the phone on its online store and is now taking pre-orders for Galaxy Ace 2. Customers who want to make sure they will get one will have to come up with around £280 (440 USD or 330 EUR) upfront.

Unfortunately, the launch date of Galaxy Ace 2 continues to remain a mystery even after the retailer has put it up for pre-orders. KingOfGadgets states that the release date of the smartphone is to be announced.

Obviously, the device will be available for free on select plans as well, from most major carriers in the country.

According to SoMobile, the price of the phone seems to be only 30 quids more expensive than that of the Galaxy Ace Plus, though Galaxy Ace 2 features much better specs.

Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 is the first smartphone to pack an 800 MHz dual-core processor. The phone also embeds 4 GB of internal memory, 768MB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

The smartphone sports a more than decent 3.8-inch PLS TFT capacitive touchscreen display with 480 x 800 pixels resolution and 16 million colors support.

Software-wise, Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 is powered by Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, but it won’t come as a surprise if Samsung will push the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade sometime in the future. Samsung’s TouchWiz 3.0 user interface is included as well.

The smartphone offers NFC support, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support, as well as dual cameras (5-megapixel rear camera and VGA front-facing camera). Last but not least, Galaxy Ace 2 embeds a high-capacity 1500 mAh Li-Polymer battery, as well as built-in GPS receiver.
