A new mobile phone coming from South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics has received the necessary approvals from the WiFi Alliance, and chances are that it would become the next Google phone.

The mobile phone was spotted on a leaked roadmap from Samsung only recently, and rumor has it that it might indeed be released as the Nexus Prime, the first smartphone to run under Google's Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich platform version.

For those out of the loop, we should note that Nexus Prime was almost confirmed by Samsung themselves via a cease and desist letter they sent out to prevent leaked firmware for the device become available for download.

The handset that landed at the WiFi Alliance comes with support for WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n connectivity, in addition to being capable to offer support for 3G networks.

Since it received the necessary approvals from the WiFi Alliance, the Samsung GT-I9250 is expected to arrive on shelves in the next several months, which would be in line with what the leaked Samsung roadmap unveiled.

However, no reference to the fact that this would indeed be the Android Ice Cream Sandwich-powered mobile phone emerged for the time being.

According to the latest reports around the Internet, the Samsung GT-I9250 is almost certain to be the upcoming Nexus Prime device, even if confirmation on the matter is still pending.

Moreover, the handset is said to be on its way to the market with a TI OMAP4 application processor inside, and with a bright and vivid HD screen.

All in all, the forthcoming Nexus Prime smartphone is expected to become a highly appealing device capable of rivaling some of the flagship handsets available on shelves at the moment, including the Samsung Galaxy S II or the HTC Sensation.

As a Google phone, it was only natural for the new mobile phone to include some of the latest advancements on the mobile market today, one should agree.

The Nexus Prime is expected to arrive on shelves at more wireless carriers around the world than the previous Google phones, and a CDMA flavor was already said to have been spotted at Verizon Wireless in the United States.
