Two new mobile phones have recently received approval from the Global Certification Forum, both of them coming from the South Korean handset vendor Samsung, namely the Samsung GT-I5800 and Samsung GT-I5801. Both devices are reportedly headed to the market with Google's Android operating system on board, yet none of them has been announced officially as of yet.

According to the Global Certification Forum (GCF) the Samsung GT-I5800 and Samsung GT-I5801 are expected to arrive on the market with quad band GSM / GPRS / EDGE and dual band UMTS / HSDPA at 900 / 2100 MHz connectivity options. Since the two phones come to the market without HSUPA capabilities, there are great chances that they will both arrive on shelves as entry level handsets.

Not too long ago, the Samsung GT-I5800 has been spotted at the WiFi Alliance, where it received certification with WiFi b/g/n connectivity included in the package, a recent article on The Unwired states. Moreover, it seems that the second device has been approved by the Bluetooth SIG with Bluetooth 3.0 capabilities. According to Samsung I5801's UA profile, the GT-I580x should land as an Android device, while boasting an ARM11 CPU inside, along with an HVGA (240 x 480 pixel) touchscreen display.

So far, no official info on the two phones has emerged. However, rumors around the web suggest that the GT-I5800/GT-I5801 should be launched either as the Galaxy 3, or as the Galaxy Spica 2, with a greater focus on the second possibility. The first Galaxy Spica had model number GT-I5700, and was also an entry level device, while the Galaxy came to the market as a high-end phone.

No specific info on when the handsets might be slated for an official launch emerged up until now, but the fact that they both received GCF, WiFi Alliance and Bluetooth SIG approvals suggests that it might not be too long before Samsung makes them official. Details on the markets where they should be released are still expected to surface.
