South Korean handset maker Samsung is determined to continue to reign over the smartphone market in the years to come. Besides launching a new Android flagship smartphone each year, Samsung plans to cover all price ranges with its products.

This is one of the main reasons devices such as Samsung Galaxy S Plus or Galaxy mini have been launched on the market.

Although not as popular as the company’s high-end smartphones, these handsets had their fair share of the market.

Today, the folks over at SamMobile claim they’ve heard some rumors that the South Korean company plans to launch a certain Galaxy S III mini by the end of the year.

In fact, the smartphone is slated for a Q4 release, probably around Christmas, though this release date may be subject to change.

So far, we only know that Samsung Galaxy S III mini will compete Apple’s iPhone 4S, though it will come with slightly lower features.

However, the price / feature ratio will be much better, which is why Samsung expects the Galaxy S III mini to outsell iPhone 4S the moment Apple launches the iPhone 5 goes on sale.

We doubt this will happen though, especially that Apple is likely to lower the iPhone 4S price as well, so it will be interesting how Galaxy S III mini will fair against the former.

When it comes to specs, Samsung Galaxy S III mini is said to come with a 4.0-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with WVGA resolution. In addition, it will be equipped with a dual-core processor and a 5-megapixel rear photo snapper.

According to SamMobile, Samsung Galaxy S III mini will be launched on the market for a suggested retail price of 250 EUR (310 USD) off-contract. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
