Shortly after launching the white Galaxy Note, UK-based carrier Three decided to axe the £99 upfront fee for Samsung Galaxy S II.

This means that customers who want to purchase the smartphone will be able to grab it for free on the Essential Internet 100 plan at £25 monthly tariff. Obviously, more expensive plans are available as well.

According to SoMobile, the current promotion will run through March 21, or while supplies last, so those who want to grab the Galaxy S II for free might want to hurry up.

Although the Galaxy S II is still shipped with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, Samsung has already started to deploy the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade for unlocked units, so it won’t be too long before carrier-bounded devices get it as well.
