Today, Australian mobile phone carrier Telstra has made available for purchase a new smartphone on its LTE network, namely the Samsung GALAXY S II 4G.

The wireless services provider has announced that the handset is up for purchase now on its website, and that it will become widely available across the country starting with tomorrow.

On Telstra’s LTE network, the new Samsung GALAXY S II 4G should deliver great connectivity capabilities and increased performance when it comes to data transfers.

“It supercharges the SII experience by letting owners in 4G coverage areas surf the mobile internet at speeds that are up to five times faster than the SII. That means you can send, stream and surf at speeds that will blow you away,” the wireless carrier notes.

The Galaxy S II 4G features a slim body, along with a large 4.5-inch SuperAMOLED touchscreen display, which should prove great when it comes to viewing photos and videos on the go.

The handset is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core application processor, and also features 1GB of RAM, along with NFC (near field communication) capabilities.

The mobile phone also comes with an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with flash and 1080p full HD video recording, along with an 1850mAh battery for extended usage time.

The specifications list of this device also includes Wi-Fi a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0+HS support, HD Voice, HSPA+ Dual Channel technology and, of course, 4G LTE connectivity capabilities. The phone runs under Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, but will be upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich soon.

“Customers using the Samsung GALAXY S II 4G in 4G coverage areas (capital city CBDs, associated airports and more than 80 regional and metropolitan locations) can access typical download speeds ranging from 2Mbps to 40Mbps and typical upload speeds from 1Mbps to 10Mbps,” Telstra notes.

The Samsung Galaxy S II 4G is available on the wireless carrier’s network with a price tag of $5 per month on the $59 Freedom Connect Plan ($550 worth of included calls & MMS, unlimited SMS and 1.5GB of data). It can be purchased outright for $768 RRP (around 580 Euro).
