14 DAY TRIAL // Unveiled earlier this week at Mobile World Congress 2013 in Barcelona, Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 has just been officially introduced in India.
Word is that this is the spiritual successor of the Galaxy Note II phablet, but some think it is just a smaller version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1.
Whichever it is, Indian customers will be able to pick this one up very soon. According to UnleashThePhones, the slate was announced today at a Samsung Forum event in Hyderabad.
Sadly, the South Korean company did not offer any details on Galaxy Note 8.0’s pricing options and availability, but we expect more details to emerge in the next few days.
Given the fact that Samsung announced at MWC that the Galaxy Note 8.0 would be available internationally in Q2 2013, we expect the tablet to arrive in India around the same time.
It is also worth mentioning that the device will be sold as Samsung Galaxy Note 510 to fit the naming scheme used by the handset maker in India.
Samsung might launch two versions of the tablet, one with HSPA+ support and a Wi-Fi only variant.
Obviously, the latter will be cheaper, but it will be interesting to see by how much. The 3G model supports GSM voice communication so users can fit in a microSIM in order to pick up calls.
Hardware-wise, the Galaxy Note 8.0 is pretty solid and offers a 1.6 GHz quad-core Exynos 4412 processor, along with a Mali-400MP GPU and 2GB of RAM.
The 8-inch capacitive touchscreen display supports 800 x 1280 pixels resolution and 189ppi. The tablet comes with dual cameras (5-megapixel rear photo snapper and 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera), 16/32GB internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 64GB).
Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 will ship with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, integrated with the latest version of TouchWiz UI.
