Rumors on upcoming Samsung devices have been running around these days, though we’re still waiting for official word on these handsets.

We already reported on Samsung Galaxy S II Plus and Galaxy S III mini, and now we have another rumor that claims the South Korean company plans to launch a sequel to Galaxy Nexus.

The same source of previous rumors, SamMobile have been tipped on the upcoming release of an alleged Samsung Galaxy Nexus GT-i9260.

Given the fact that the current Galaxy Nexus model is known as GT-i9250, the next-generation Galaxy Nexus handset will be dubbed as GT-i9260.

This is good news, though we kind of expected Samsung to release another Galaxy Nexus smartphone powered by Google’s latest Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box.

Unfortunately, the next Galaxy Nexus device will be a minor upgrade to the original Samsung Galaxy Nexus GT-i9250, which is still available for purchase on the market.

According to SamMobile, Samsung Galaxy Nexus GT-i9260 will be equipped with a dual-core A9 processor clocked at 1.5 GHz, a consistent improvement from the GT-i9250’s 1.2 GHz dual-core CPU.

Moreover, the enhanced version of Galaxy Nexus will boast an improved 8-megapixel rear photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording. This is another upgrade from the original’s 5-megapixel main camera.

The 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera has been bumped to 1.9-megapixels, but the new Galaxy Nexus will have the same 4.65-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with HD (720 x 1280 pixels) resolution.

Another change that will probably make Android enthusiasts happy is the addition of microSD card slot for memory expansion, which is not available for the original Galaxy Nexus model.

Even though we don’t have any details on the availability of Samsung Galaxy Nexus GT-i9260, rumor has it that the smartphone will be cheaper than the original model. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
