Samsung is about to introduce another Galaxy family phone in the UK. Unveiled more than two weeks ago, the Galaxy mini 2 is now available for pre-order for only £180 (285 USD or 215 EUR) outright.

UK-based retailer MobileFun has just listed the phone on its online store, but the handset’s availability has yet to be confirmed: “No release date confirmed. Order now for priority despatch.”

We had the chance to take it for a spin at the Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona, but we weren’t impressed by the phone’s look or performance.

Although Galaxy mini 2 will be available on the market in various color-schemes, the overall feeling of cheapness overwhelmed us.

All in all, those who are looking for a reliable budget-friendly Android smartphone can give Galaxy mini 2 a try.

While the phone is now available for pre-order for a certain amount, we can safely assume that at least one UK-based carrier will offer the Galaxy mini 2 for free on select plans.

Samsung Galaxy mini 2 sports a 3.27-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen display that supports 320 x 480 pixels resolution and 16 million colors. There’s also a 3-megapixel rear photo snapper and video recording. The phone lacks a secondary camera for video calls.

Obviously, the smartphone is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system. In addition, it packs an 800 MHz single-core Qualcomm MSM7227 processor along with an Adreno 200 graphics processing unit.

With Samsung Hubs and ChatON services that come pre-loaded on the phone, users will be able to stay connected with their friends and families. The phone features deep social networking integration via Facebook, Twitter and MySpace.

Furthermore, the Music Hub provides access to over 17 million tracks on the go, while Game Hub recommends the latest game titles available for download.
