Wireless carrier MetroPCS is expected to bring to the market in the near future a new device that would connect its customers to the newly deployed LTE (Long Term Evolution) network, the Samsung Forte, and some more info on this device started to emerge.

Apparently, just as suggested at one time, the upcoming Samsung Forte would be the one and the same SCH-R910 handset that made an appearance into the wild a while ago.

The forthcoming LTE device emerged in a new series of photos, as well as in a video, and is expected to make it to the carrier's airwaves with Google's Android operating system on board.

According to a recent article on Engadget, the mobile phone would actually run under a recent build of Android 2.2.1, though it might land on the market with a more recent flavor of the mobile operating system.

Among the known specifications on this device, we can count a sliding QWERTY keyboard to complement that touchscreen display, as well as a 1GHz processor for enhanced performance levels.

The new mobile phone is also expected to land on shelves with a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, as well as with Samsung's custom TouchWiz UI on top of Google's Android operating system.

Moreover, rumor has it that the smartphone might be launched as a Galaxy S device on MetroPCS airwaves.

Of course, it still remains to be seen when exactly would this handset be released on the wireless carrier's network.

During the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Samsung touted its first LTE-capable smartphone as being on its way to Verizon, and chances are that Forte would be released after that device hits the shelves.

However, no specific info on the matter is available for the time being, and things might turn out differently in the end. Until more details on this are unveiled, you should have a look at the video embedded below, courtesy of Engadget.
