This week, Microsoft announced that it is getting ready to finalize the release of software updates for handsets running under its Windows Phone operating system, and that Samsung Focus users should get their taste of NoDo any day now.

Focus was the only handset that did not receive the three updates that Microsoft made available for Windows Phone devices earlier this year, but things are about to change.

Soon Focus owners will be prompted to update to software 7008, the first of the three, after which the 7390 (NoDo) and 7392 (security) updates will arrive in a single package on their devices.

“Updates for the Samsung Focus with the memory variant are in the final phases of testing. Here’s what to expect when they become available,” Eric Hautala, GM, Customer Experience Engineering, notes in a recent blog post.

“You’ll receive two back-to-back update notifications. The first is for the 7008 update. Once installed, you can then immediately update to 7392 (which will also include the 7390 “copy and paste” update).”

Samsung Focus users on AT&T's network have been plagued with various issues when trying to update their devices, and Microsoft needed almost four months to resolve them, but things are finally getting into place.

The same can be said for the owners of Omnia 7 handsets on Orange, which are currently receiving the last two updates as well, after the roll-out has been halted for them.

“This week we also restarted update deliveries to Omnia 7 handsets on Orange. We’re currently delivering both 7390 and 7392 to these phones as one bundled update,” the said blog post continues.

Good news for HTC Surround and LG Quantum owners on AT&T's network as well, as the 7392 update is currently being delivered to their devices too.

All in all, it appears that it should not be too long before the entire update process for Windows Phone devices is completed, so that users can get ready for tasting the next flavor of Microsoft's platform, namely Mango.
