After Lumia 900’s huge success, AT&T introduces another Windows Phone device, the Samsung Focus 2. Customers can purchase the smartphone starting today for as low as 49.99 USD (40 EUR) with a new two-year agreement.
Those who are not willing to commit to a long-term contract can grab the Focus 2 for 399.99 USD (310 EUR) upfront.
Although Nokia priced the Lumia 900 similarly when it launched the smartphone via AT&T, the handset is now available for 99.99 USD (80 EUR) on a two-year term.
Nokia’s extremely attractive deal on the Lumia 900 was “caused” by a software issue with the smartphones LTE connectivity, so once it was fixed, the handset was priced higher, as it was meant to be in the first place.
Anyway, Samsung’s Focus 2 is not that impressive as the Lumia 900, even though it comes with a large 4.0-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display (480 x 800 pixels) and LTE supports.
Hardware-wise, each Windows Phone device is equipped with a 1.4 GHz single-core processor, which is complemented by an Adreno 205 graphics processing unit.
However, the Lumia 900 boasts an enhanced 8-megapixel rear camera with Carl Zeiss optics, whereas the Focus 2 packs a 5-megapixel main photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and HD (720p) video recording.
In addition, Samsung Focus 2 embeds only 8GB of internal memory and 512MB of RAM. Obviously, there is no microSD card slot for memory expansion.
In the connectivity front, aside from LTE support, Samsung Focus 2 offers HSDPA (21Mbps) and HSUPA (5.76Mbps), Wi-Fi, microUSB, Bluetooth 2.1 and GPS with A-GPS.
Last but not least, the smartphone is powered by a high-capacity 1750 mAh Li-Ion battery, which is rated by the manufacturer for up to 10.4 days of standby time or up to 6 hours of talk time.
