Although Samsung is a company that generally delivers on its promises, things have been a little bit difficult with the company's 245T model, which should have hit the shelves at some point in March. However, the Korean company managed to finally deliver (after almost 9 months) and announced the commercial availability of the SyncMaster 245T model, which delivers some pretty impressive features, comparable with those of entry-level LCD TVs.
The 245T monitor has a 24-inch, 16:10 wide-screen format,
with a 178/178-degree viewing angle. The 245T monitor's PVA panel technology, ultra-wide viewing angles and widescreen format can support a range of multi-window applications in precise clarity, helping to improve work efficiency and reducing the need for multiple monitors.
Furthermore, the 245T model features a high 1920 x 1200 resolution, providing for clearer and more precise images and full HD 1080p. The 245T monitor's image quality is also enhanced by Samsung's MagicContrast which offers a super high contrast ratio and an extra-wide viewing angle. With the 1500:1 super-high dynamic contrast ratio, it's easy to read or view content on the monitor's screen. MagicSpectrum wide-color gamut technology provides previously unreachable colors, up to 97% of the NTSC color space, allowing deeper, richer color rendition and photorealistic imaging.
The 245T model also comes equipped with MagicSpeed, which gives users an ultra-fast 6ms response time (gray to gray) and Motion Picture Acceleration (MPA) backlight scanning technology and features a height adjustable stand with flexible pivot, tilt and swivel capabilities, as well as an integrated USB 2.0 hub (one up, four down). The 245T model is further equipped with wall-mounting capabilities, offering professional users enhanced flexibility.
To aid in reduced power consumption, the 245T monitor employs Samsung's Digital Power Management Signaling (DPMS) mode to automatically assess whether the monitor is in use and switches it to stand-by mode, which uses less than two watts of power.
"Samsung is constantly striving to meet the demanding needs of professional users who require vivid and precise graphic quality and performance," said Young Bae, Senior Display Product Manager, Samsung Electronics America, Inc. "By combining superior image technology with a widescreen and feature-rich design, Samsung has delivered an outstanding solution for even the most rigorous professional applications."
The new 245T monitor from Samsung will retail for around $799.99, which is not exactly a very small price to pay, but it's quite worth it, taking into consideration the fact that this thing could always double as an entry-level LCD TV display.
