The last maintenance software update for the Samsung Fascinate really screwed most of the devices, which were experiencing issues with incoming calls.

Released back in June, software update i500.ED04 was supposed to improve the delivery of OTA (over the air) software updates and incoming call connectivity, instead it made most Fascinate units unusable as owners started to report that the phone is unable to accept calls.

Those who were experiencing this issues were entitled to a certified like-new replacement from Verizon Wireless, thus they could choose one of the select models, including the DROID X2, Incredible 2 or DROID Charge.

However, it appears that the Big Red was willing to replace the faulty Samsung Fascinate units free of charge only if a Verizon representative could confirm the phone in question cannot properly receive calls.

Basically, this means that Samsung Fascinate owners had to visit the nearest Verizon store and give their phone for inspection, as the telephone support representatives are unable to verify the problem.

Anyway, this ruckus is about to end, as Verizon has recently announced that it will soon deploy another minor software update that is supposed to fix this so-called 'incoming calls issue'.

According to Verizon, software update i500.ED05 will make all Samsung Fascinate units to properly receive incoming calls.

In addition, a few other bugs have been corrected, including the ones described below:

- After sending a multi-recipient SMS message, single-recipient SMS messages will send correctly; - SMS message reply is sent to the correct recipient. It is also worth mentioning that Google Books app will be pre-loaded on the phone once users update their Samsung Fascinate software to the latest version.

It is likely that the update will be delivered OTA (over the air), so Fascinate owners should check manually for the update by going to Settings / About phone / System Updates / Check New.
