If you're a Verizon subscriber and got yourself a Samsung Fascinate then you're in for a minor software upgrade, as the US carrier is already pushing it OTA. If a small window will pop-up on the screen to inform you that a new i500.DI01 software upgrade is available for your Samsung Fascinate device, by all means accept the upgrade.

No, it's not gonna be an Android 2.2 Froyo upgrade, but it still brings you a few interesting improvements.

Oh, and it doesn't remove the Bing search or replace it with the common and useful Google Search app neither, but this isn't going to happen anyway as Verizon already signed an agreement with Microsoft for that Bling thingy, so except more “bling-bling” smartphones.

If you decide to give up Bling and replace it with Google Search, then follow my tutorial on how to put Google's app on Samsung Fascinate here.

Besides adding numerous enhancements and improvements, the new i500.DI01 software update will get your Samsung Fascinate the following:

Instant notification of Visual Voice Mail messages on your messaging bar Improved syncing between your phone and email accounts Prompt notification when switching to Airplane mode; Faster switching to 3G services from 1x; Easily search your phone during a call; Improved Enterprise Exchange password alerts; No Service audio alert removed. If you are aware of some of the minor or major bugs that Samsung Fascinate had since its launch, then you will be happy to find that some of the them are fixed in this new software update.

A good example is the fact that after applying the new update you will be able to click on the Search button when you're having a call.

On a side note, coincidence or not, Verizon is also pushing the Android 2.2 upgrade to Motorola Droid X today.
