With slight differences between the two phone versions

It looks like Samsung F700 will hit the US market, after all. The device will be carried by Verizon Wireless, although under the name of Samsung U940.

Some first leaked images show the F700 bearing Verizon's brand, which makes matters clear. Still, the handset will come under the name of Samsung U940. There are some differences between the two devices, which stands as the main reason for their different names.

The smartphone will work in the CDMA network and will also feature 3G technology. The design is pretty much the same with both handsets. They come with a large touchscreen, a smooth black case covered in stripes, which makes the phone look as if dressed in a business suit. This provides it with a highly elegant and unique look, although the form factor is strikingly similar to that of the iPhone and of many other devices that try to copy Apple's phone.

The QWERTY keypad is the main advantage that Samsung U940 has to bring over many of its competitors that try to steal some of the iPhone's fans. It's more classic and easier to use, although slightly different from that seen with the Samsung F700 smartphone.

There are high chances that the two devices share the award winning Croix interface and it would be a shame to see things stand otherwise. One unfortunate change is that the US handset will pack a 2-megapixel camera instead of a 3 megapixel one, as it is the case with the GSM phone. Aside from these features, the two smartphones should look and act pretty similar, with the same touchscreen performances.

Samsung U940 is still in the prototype phase, which brings high chances for the final version that will hit the market to feature even more differences when compared to the F700, or even to lose some of them.
