Recently, reports on the internal memory of the 16GB Galaxy S 4 model have started to emerge, unveiling the fact that the device actually arrives on shelves with less than 9GB of storage packed inside.

Following these reports, Samsung has provided an explanation on the matter.

According to the company, around 6.85 GB of the phone’s storage is taken by the system, which is 1GB more when compared to the Galaxy S III smartphone.

The company also explains that this is due to the fact that the new mobile phone comes with high-resolution display and with various other powerful features, all of which occupy more storage space than before.

“To offer the ultimate mobile experience to our users, Samsung provides a microSD slot on Galaxy S4 for extension of memory,” the company also says, Cnet reports.

For those out of the loop, we should note that Galaxy S 4 supports memory cards of up to 64GB, which should deliver a significant bump in memory to those who need it.
