Samsung has kick-started the year in style by showing off four new tablet models in the first days of 2014. Then, this week came another unveiling in the persona of Sammy’s budget offering, the Galaxy Tab 3 Lite.

And according to some market watchers reported by DigiTimes, Samsung’s fresh 12.2-inch model is expected to act as an incentive for Apple and its large-size iPad endeavors.

Apple and Samsung are expected to continue to be the top tablet vendors in 2014 and Sammy's flurry of new tablets will reportedly help push sales to 60-70 million units in 2014, compared to just 40 million in 2013.

Naturally, Apple will counter attack Samsung’s efforts by launching 7.9-inch and 9.7-inch models of its own.

Samsung will probably continue to unveil tablet models in 2014, as we are currently waiting on the rumored AMOLED screen slates, one of which might actually turn out to be the next-generation Nexus 10.
