With Windows Mobile 6.5 on board

On Monday, Samsung Mobile and U.S. Cellular announced the availability of Samsung Exec (SCH-i225) on the carrier's airwaves. The new handset comes to the market powered by Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.5 platform, and offers a slim form factor, while being able to deliver a wide range of features and functionalities to users.

“Many of our customers are multi-taskers who want smartphones that help them get their work done even when they’re out of the office,” said Ed Perez, vice-president of marketing and sales for U.S. Cellular. “The Exec delivers on this need and most important, keeps them connected with family and friends.”

The Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.5 platform that powers Exec offers access to personal and corporate email through Microsoft Office Outlook ActiveSync, as well as Microsoft Office programs like PowerPoint Mobile and Word Mobile. Moreover, the operating system offers the possibility to personalize the device via the Windows Mobile Device Center, though which one can easily sync favorite music, pictures and videos with a PC.

At the same time, the new Samsung Exec arrives with a 2.0-megapixel photo snapper with video recording capabilities, Bluetooth connectivity options, built-in music player, and a memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space. Boasting a full QWERTY keyboard, the mobile phone enables fast messaging, while the battery packed inside its 4.61 x 2.36 x 0.45 inches body can deliver up to 8 hours of talk time.

Additional features of the device include an HTML browser, one-touch access to widgets and social networking sites, including Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and Flicker, not to mention instant messaging via Windows Live Messenger. Users will also have access to the Microsoft Windows Marketplace, from where they can download and install various apps on the handset. The Samsung Exec is available for purchase both online on the US Cellular's website, and in the carrier's stores.
