While most people out there were busy with the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, there were so many new products to present that somehow everyone managed to avoid releasing the same mobile phone with a different color scheme. But this had to happen eventually. Samsung E420 was up until now available in Asia and Europe in pearl white and it is now being released in black and red. Just like the white version, the black edition also targets female users and, of course, the features have not changed.

In fact, the stylish design is what an user interested in this phone will get, because the features are pretty much basic, totally contrasting with all the high-tech features included in some of Samsung's newly released phones. The Samsung E420 comes with a VGA camera, 65k color screen and GPRS capabilities. So don't expect Bluetooth, Irda, a card slot or MP3 player. Ringtones and other content can only be downloaded via GPRS. Mainly, the phone will allow you to take snapshots and use all the basic phone features such as organizer, multimedia messages or wap browser.

While it doesn't have any impressive features to sport, the mobile phone mainly targets people interested in a good looking phone that does nothing more than be a phone. One of its advantages would be that it's pretty small and lightweight, measuring 83.6 x 45.5 x 17.4 mm and weighing only 77 grams.

Clearly, more advanced users will have no interest whatsoever in this handset; truth be told, if you're in need for a basic and stylish phone, the E420 would be a pretty interesting option. And starting now, you can choose between the two available colors, pearl white or black and red.
