Samsung finishes the process of spinning off its LCD business

It looks like Samsung was able to complete its LCD business spin-off plans in record time, or close enough for that choice of words to apply anyway.

Samsung Electronics reached the conclusion, back in February, that it was in its best interest to separate its liquid crystal display business from the fold.

Instead of selling it or giving up on it, however, the company decided to have it start on its own path.

Sure enough, the plans began to take shape in short order and, now, they have been completed.

In fact, Samsung managed to keep to its schedule instead of running into delays or barriers.

That is to say, it wanted Samsung Display Co., Ltd (that is the name of the independent business) to be inaugurated on April 1 and, sure enough, it made it happen.

“We will make Samsung Display a well-respected company through continuous efforts to supply a wide variety of customized products that provide great value to our customers.” said newly elected CEO Donggun Park. He was executive vice president and head of the former Samsung Electronics’ LCD Business.

“By continually staying one step ahead of our competitors, we can make our company the very best in the display market.”

All that remains is some incorporation registration and then work can really start for real on April 3.

For those who want business data, Samsung Display Co., Ltd is essentially the largest display manufacturer in the world.

The earning of that title was made possible by the 20,000 employees and the five production facilities worldwide.

In other words, the new company became the world's largest global display manufacturer practically overnight, even though the process leading towards this feat was over one month-long. All that remains is to see if the outfit really manages to more efficiently respond to market challenges than it did while acting as Samsung's LCD manufacturing arm.
