Last month, South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics officially announced the availability of a new flavor of its Galaxy S5 flagship device, in the form of Galaxy S5 LTE-A, and now the company has decided to offer some details on the display of this phone.

For those out of the loop, we should note that, while the Galaxy S5 arrived on shelves with a full HD screen, the Galaxy S5 LTE-A was launched with a WQHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) Super AMOLED panel on the front, both of 5.1 inches in size.

According a recent post from the company, the higher-resolution display will provide users with increased detail levels when compared to the FHD screen, while also delivering softer and more natural colors, as can be seen in the image above (the 2K screen is at the bottom).

Moreover, the company notes that hair, eyebrows, and skin wrinkles can be displayed in far more detail on the WQHD screen than on the 1080p one.

“With the WQHD you don’t have to be satisfied with what you're accustomed to. The WQHD can show you more – improved readability, more vivid three-dimensional effects, and the aesthetic beauty – which will bring viewers closer to ‘the real thing,’” the company also explains.

The WQHD (Wide Quad HD) screen also has more pixels than its Full HD counterpart, boasting a 577PPI (pixel per inch), yet it manages to keep battery consumption to a minimum due to various tweaks and optimizations, Samsung notes.
