Plus more technologies that will increase quality of the pictures

Samsung just announced its latest achievement: the ultra-thin camera phone module that measures only 8.5mm thickness.

After successfully developing in September 2006 a 5 Megapixel camera with 3x optical zoom and autofocus that has managed to overcome the 9 mm barrier, slim phones, as well as PDA, PMP, MP3 players, and a wider variety of portable navigation could be manufactured together with the new Samsung's tiny module camera.

The new 8.5 mm camera module introduces some other new technologies such as a new sensitivity level of ISO 1600, anti-shake features, super-noise processing technology, face tracking technology and 1 cm SuperMacro function. The successful development of the module could mean that camera phones, but also other products will soon include 8 Megapixel corresponding module cameras.

Since last year, the company has worked on the 'face tracking' technology shooting, which targets the person's face and shoots as soon as it detects a smile. The "shooting facial recognition" also includes the "eyes flicker recognition feature", which does exactly what the name suggests. These are very handy and advanced technologies, which Samsung will most certainly try to implement into its new camera module.

Meanwhile, Samsung has serious plans for the second half of this year and intends to proceed with full-scale mass production. The Korean company will start supplying samples on domestic and overseas markets starting in May, but also plans to conduct promotions that will increase interest for the new technologies.
