Samsung continues to expand its line-up of dual-SIM mobile phones, and today it announced the release of Samsung D780 Duos. Following the D880 Duos model, made available at the end of 2007, the new Duos comes at a more affordable price, but also with fewer features. However, the dual-SIM capability is the main reason why people will buy this phone, as it allows them to use it on two different networks at the same time.

Unlike D880, which is a slider, D780 Duos comes in candybar form factor. The handset measures 115 x 49.6 x15.7 millimeters and sports a 2.1 inch display with 262K color support and a QVGA resolution (320 x 240 pixels). It only provides tri-band GSM connectivity (900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) and packs just a 2.0 Megapixel camera.

Other features include Media player with support for MP3, AAC+ and MPEG-4, Stereo FM, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, Java MIDP 2.0, USB 2.0, document viewer, WAP 2.0 browser, polyphonic ringtones, 60 MB of internal memory and microSD card support for an extra amount of up to 2 GB. D780 Duos is apparently powered by the same battery included in D880, a 1200 mAh one, hence it should be able to run for up to 9 hours in talk-time mode and up to 240 hours in stand-by mode.

Samsung D780 Duos has a retail price of no more than 300 Euro ($470), which is not much if we think that, with the dual-SIM feature, it actually replaces two phones that you have to carry when needing to use two SIM cards simultaneously.

The new Samsung D780 Duos will be available starting May, first in Russia and then in Asia, Europe and the Middle East. No word yet about the release on other markets.
