After Galaxy Pro became official yesterday at the 2011 Samsung SEA (Southeast Asia & Oceania) Forum in Singapore, the Korean manufacturer has announced another sequel of a popular handset, the Samsung Corby II.

Corby II has been previously spotted briefly on Samsung's official website, one month ago, but details about the phone's specs were pretty scarce.

Aside from two specifics, like a QVGA touchscreen display and the TouchWiz interface nothing solid was known about the handset.

Samsung Corby II (GT-S3850) features the same bar form factor as its Corby I (GT-S3650) predecessors, but its design has been revamped.

The phone's display also got a bit larger, as the handset has a 3.14-inch touchscreen, while the original Corby only had a 2.8-inch touchscreen.

However, there are a lot of things that remain common to both feature-phones, such as the TouchWiz UI, Samsung Social Hub, Stereo FM radio with RDS, as well as the 3.5mm headphone jack.

In addition to social networking integration, Corby II features email and Microsoft Exchange support, as well as Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP support, which enables users to listen to music wirelessly.

The Corby family isn't really known for its camera phone capabilities, as they only feature sub-par 2-megapixel cameras.

Some of the strong points of the new Corby II are the addition of Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n connectivity, as well as the integration of T9 QuickType keyboard, which is about to become standard for all new Samsung handsets, regardless of their price range.

Other key features include microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 16GB) and a 1000mAh Li-Ion standard battery rated for up to 9.5 hours of talk time.

Samsung Corby II is expected to be launched at the end of the month in Germany and soon after in other countries in Europe, Latin America, Asia, Middle East and Africa.

The phone will be available in three color schemes, White, Pink and Yellow, but no price has been disclosed yet.
