Samsung has kept its promise and has updated the Galaxy Note II to the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system, so fans are now expecting the South Korean handset maker to offer another major update for their phablets, Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

The same goes for Samsung Galaxy S III, which has been updated to Jelly Bean beginning late last year.

Even though rumors coming from various insiders have claimed that the Galaxy S III will not be getting any other major updates in the future, it appears that things changed in the last couple of weeks, since several carriers have confirmed that they will offer a KitKat upgrade for this model.

Last month, Samsung also let it slip that the Galaxy S III would receive an Android 4.4.2 KitKat update by the end of March, though that did not happen.

Although the information provided by Samsung UAE wasn’t accurate, at least there were signs that the company was considering the KitKat update for Galaxy S III.

Today, additional information coming from Samsung Care has leaked online via South Korean forum Ruliweb, which somewhat confirms the KitKat update for some Galaxy smartphones.

According to Samsung Care, the Galaxy Note II should start receiving Android 4.4.2 KitKat update in mid-April, while the Galaxy S III is expected to get the same upgrade sometime in late April or early May.

Keep in mind that Samsung’s official providing the information is referring to the Android 4.4.2 KitKat rollout in South Korea, so it might take a while until the major update hits Galaxy Note II and Galaxy S III smartphones around the world.

Still, given the fact that we have already reached the timing specified in the information for the rollout of Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for Galaxy Note II, we should be getting reports on its availability in the next couple of days.

If not, then we should file this under inaccurate information provided by Samsung category, which we had plenty of in the last couple of months.

Here is hoping that Samsung will be able to offer an official statement confirming the Android 4.4.2 KitKat for both Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II.

For those unfamiliar, both of these handsets are now stuck on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system in most regions, so it would make perfect sense for Samsung to offer an Android 4.4.2 KitKat upgrade in the not so distant future. Stay tuned for more info on the matter.
