South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics is gearing up for the release of a new version of its Galaxy S III smartphone, one that would feature a smaller touchscreen when compared to the original.

Previously leaked online as the Galaxy S III mini, the smartphone has been already confirmed by the handset vendor, and is set to become official as soon as tomorrow, it seems.

The info on the upcoming unveiling of the new device comes from JK Shin, head of Samsung Mobile Communication, who did not offer further info on the smartphone.

Samsung will hold a press conference in Germany tomorrow, and the Galaxy S III mini phone will be announced at that event.

“We’ll be launching a 4-inch Galaxy S III on the 11th in Germany. There’s a lot of demand for a 4-inch screen device in Europe. Some call it an entry-level device but we call it ‘mini’,” Shin reportedly said.
