South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics appears to be quite happy with the traction that its latest Android-based flagship model, the Galaxy S5, has seen until now.

According to previous reports on the matter, Samsung managed to ship 10 million Galaxy S5 units in the first 25 days of availability of the device, and confirmation on the matter has emerged.

Speaking to The Wall Street Journal, J K Shin, head of Samsung’s Mobile business, has said that the company managed to ship over 11 million devices in the first month of availability.

This shows that Galaxy S5 is already becoming more popular than the Galaxy S4 last year, which reached only 10 million in shipments after a month.

Although the difference is not a major one, it does suggest that Samsung’s growth on the smartphone market hasn’t come to an end.

“It’s been a month since we began selling the S5, and out of the gate, sales are much stronger than the Galaxy S4,” Shin has reportedly said.

At the same time, Samsung’s official has unveiled that the mobile phone has seen great success among mobile phone users on developed markets, including the US, Germany, and Australia.

Higher shipments of Galaxy S5 should help Samsung increase its profit margins, in addition to allowing it to grab more market share.

One thing that needs to be remembered, however, is the fact that these statistics do not show the number of Galaxy S5 smartphones that have been actually sold to end-users.

Galaxy S5 was made official at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, and it arrives on shelves as the first device in Samsung’s flagship lineup to sport a dust- and waterproof design.

The phone sports a 5.1-inch full HD touchscreen display, a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, and 2GB of RAM. Moreover, it was released with a 16-megapixel rear camera, with 4K video recording capabilities.

For some enthusiasts, the Galaxy S5 that was announced in February was not the phone they were looking for.

Before that, Samsung was rumored to release the handset with 5.2-inch a Quad HD touchscreen and a Snapdragon 805 processor inside. Moreover, the mobile phone was said to arrive on the market with 3GB of RAM, but with the same camera capabilities.

No official confirmation on the matter has been provided as of now, but rumor has it that Samsung might be finally ready to announce the phone under the name of Galaxy S5 Prime as soon as the next month.
