Galaxy S 4, the latest flagship Android-based smartphone from Samsung, has managed to become the fastest selling handset in the company’s Galaxy lineup, with over 10 million units sold since its landing on the market.

The smartphone arrived on shelves in late April, and Samsung needed less than one month to reach the aforementioned milestone, with suggests that Galaxy S 4 will see increased popularity moving forth.

In fact, the South Korean mobile phone maker claims that it will be able to sell over 50 million Galaxy S 4 units.

“On behalf of Samsung, I would like to thank the millions of customers around the world who have chosen the Samsung Galaxy S 4,” JK Shin, CEO and president of the IT and mobile communications division at Samsung Electronics, said.

“At Samsung we’ll continue to pursue innovation inspired by and for people,” he also said.

At the moment, the Galaxy S 4 is available in over 110 countries around the world, yet Samsung is set to expand its availability to 155 countries by the end of June. The handset will be available through 327 wireless carriers.

As mentioned above, Galaxy S 4 is selling faster than its predecessors, as the original Galaxy S needed 7 months to reach this milestone, while Galaxy S II needed five months.

Samsung also noted that last year’s flagship model, the Galaxy S III, reached 10 million sold units in 50 days.

Galaxy S 4 arrived on shelves with a 5-inch full HD touchscreen display, a quad-core processor inside (an eight-core in some markets), 2GB of RAM, and support for 4G LTE, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, and NFC connectivity options.

Furthermore, it packs a 13-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with full HD video recording, and front camera for video calling while on the go. It can shoot videos and photos with both cameras at the same time.
