Introduced last week by U.S. Cellular, Samsung Chrono is now making its debut at another U.S.-based carrier, Cricket Communications.

The network operator has just announced that it expanded its feature-phone lineup with yet another handset, the Samsung SCH-r261, also known as Chrono.

However, while Cricket's Chrono is available for purchase for a suggested retail price of $59.99, U.S. Cellular's Chrono is a real bargain, as the phone can be acquired for only a penny.

The Chrono features a basic flip form factor and comes with large keypad that includes generous keys that allow users to easily text as much as they would like.

As suggested by the manufacturer, Samsung Chrono targets seniors who prefer cheap and basic phones with large enough keypads and buttons.

The clamshell is equipped with Bluetooth connectivity, which allows users to quickly pair other Bluetooth-enabled devices while on-the-go.

In addition, the phone can be personalized by using Cricket Storefront to download applications, games, ringtones and wallpapers.

We're excited to bring the Samsung brand to our value-priced clam shell, feature-phone category. The Samsung Chrono's large display, keyboard and simple to use interface make it really easy to use and a perfect fit for anyone,” said Matt Stoiber, vice-president and general manager of devices for Cricket.

Furthermore, Samsung Chrono sports a useless VGA camera and only 55MB of internal memory, which cannot be enough for users who want to store lots of pictures, contacts, text messages and documents.

According to the carrier, the Samsung Chrono is offered with Cricket's all-inclusive unlimited plans, including the basic $35 unlimited talk and text, and the $45 plan which provides users with unlimited talk, text, 411 information, navigation, international text, unlimited picture messages, unlimited web browsing and more.

Customers who choose the $45 rate plan will be able to access the MyHomeScreen, MyBackup and Cricket Navigator services.
