The Samsung next-gen Chromebooks are just around the corner and the official announcement has been made, giving us a window into the full list of specifications we’re going to be seeing with the new models.

Earlier today, we brought you some fresh information about Samsung’s next-gen Chromebooks. The first pics of the device had leaked in the press, showcasing a familiar Galaxy Note 3-like faux-leather look, which has a love-hate track record with customers.

Anyway, we ended up speculating about the specs we’re going to be seeing on the inside, because no additional information was provided about the series. We only knew the Chromebooks will become available in 11.6-inch and 13.3-inch flavors.

Now, as Ubergizmo reports, the new Chromebook line has been officially announced, so we’re able to provide you with the list of specs of the new Chrome OS laptops.

Compared to the previous generation, Samsung has upped things in the performance department, as well as the battery life cycle. Speaking of which, the new Chomebooks will be lighter and thinner, as to keep up with the growing plethora of super sleek devices available on the market.

Now moving on to more serious details, the 13.3-inch model will come with a full HD resolution (1920 x 1080) which certainly places it above other Chromebook models.

For example, the only other 13.3-inch Chromebook available on the market today, the Toshiba one, only has 1366 x 768 pixel resolution. However, the new 11.6-inch model will sport exactly the same resolution, which is a bit disappointing for those looking for a capable smaller screened device.

It appears the new Samsung Chromebooks will take only a single second to wake up from sleep and are able to boot in under 10. Both models draw power from energy-efficient Exynos 5 Octa processors from Samsung’s own garden.

The laptops should provide users with a proficient life span of 8.5 hour, which is good enough for school-work and other education-related activities.

As any lappy pre-loaded with Chrome OS, the Samsung Chromebook 2 Series will receive automatic updates regularly. On top of that, the new devices will come pre-loaded with a software pack, said to be worth $100 / €72.

Both Chromebook models will become available starting April, with the 11.6-inch model shipping for $319.99 / €232 while the 13.3-inch variant will sell for $399 / €284. So what do you think, would you pick up a faux-leather Chromebook?
